I am an avid birder, in the sense that I like birds, especially the unique vocalizations they produce. This led me to my Masters work, studying the secretive Yellow Rail in the Lower Athabasca region of Alberta. In the time that I am not listening to bird calls, I am always, always, always playing chess. One of my aspirations is to become a chess master! This is different than a Pokémon master, as it is in fact a real accomplishment. I also enjoy many typical outdoorsy activities valued by biologists such as hiking, climbing, picnicking, and finding endless ‘neature’.
