The Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) requires a creative and responsible
individual with excellent communication skills for the position of Life
Science Program Specialist. The successful candidate will represent the
RSM’s Life Sciences public programming within and outside the RSM. This
position will be required to work some weekends, facilitate presentations
and lead tours both indoors and outside, and communicate in noisy
Key duties will include:
* developing and delivering public programs for school workshops,
special groups and the general public.
* working with other RSM staff to help develop new exhibits, provide
interpretation, information and instructions to visitors and train others
on the delivery of Life Science public programs.
* develop and maintain a live animal collection for use in programs and
* reaching out and contacting the science community and working with the
RSM curatorial staff to further life sciences and sustainability studies
at the Museum.
* visitor reception duties, supervising galleries and public facilities
and ensuring visitors observe rules of behavior.
Successful candidates will have a strong background in biology and the
principals of interpretation/education, as well as an understanding of
museum practices and structure.
Typically this level of knowledge is obtained through post-secondary
education in Biology, Environmental Studies, Museum Studies, B.Ed or
equivalent, and experience in a museum setting or other public programming
setting. This position will be part of the Visitor Experience Team so
customer service training and experience is an asset. The successful
